Every action with an outsourcer costs you money? - 1

Time is money. Correct?
Well time is our most valuable currency and if you are serious about living the four hour work week then it’s vital that you trim down the interactions that you have with the outsourcers you work with.

There is a fine line between asking pertinent strategic questions and being needy and seeking approval too often.

High touch outsourcing relationships - 1

By Gavin | February 14, 2008

Why would you want to have a high touch relationship with an outsourcer?

high-touch-outsourcer.jpg

Some benefits could be:

  • Loyalty
  • Improved response to your requests
  • May add more value to your business, coming up with ideas for you to implement
  • May be prepared to be more flexible with you.
  • Generate ideas that can improve efficiency

Downsides:

  • Invest time in getting to know someone and they end up leaving
  • Can spend a lot of time getting to know someone, that takes time and there is an opportunity cost associated with that.

Do you really need more friends?

It might be better to distinguish between High Touch and Low Touch Tasks rather than the relationships themselves?

How can you get the Attention of your Market? - 1

By Gavin | December 18, 2007

I’ve been pondering this question as I observe what Tim Ferriss has done with his book and subsequent follow up and Rich Schefren is doing with his attention age doctrine.

One thing I know that works are vidoes Tim Ferriss has some really cool ones. The one that sticks in my mind the most is where he video’s his stuff that he takes on one of his mini retirements

What videos can you create that are either valuable to the people within your market or entertaining to them?

My friend and client Matt Lovell who is the Sports Nutritionist for the England Rugby Team has just published 3 more on You Tube, there were some real good nuggets of info in there that anyone who is into Sports Performance can learn from.

e.g. I’d never heard of using dark chocolate in a Chilli Bolognaise because it is loaded full of anti-oxidants.

What video ideas have you got that will grab the attention of your Market?

Post your comments below and lets have a brainstorm.

I need your vote…Can you digg me? - 1

By Gavin | December 17, 2007

Voting has started in Rich Schefren’s Attention Age Doctrine Competition.

At the moment I’m running 3rd in my category. The informational sector, the leader I think has been miscategorized and should be in the humerous section, his video is funny, no doubt about but not informational. I’m not really counting him as competition so I am really in second place and only 14 votes behind second spot.

I’m planning a late run anyway and could even take first place.

Here’s how to vote

1 You’ll need to create an account at www.digg.com and activate it through your e-mail

2 Then go to this link  http://www.digg.com/celebrity/When_your_crusty_old_boring_and_have_no_sense_of_humour

3 Then just underneath the number next to the post it will say Digg it click on that and it will change to Dugg

Thanks for Digging me.

Gavin

P.S. this campaign has already proved valuable, I have had 4 solid enquiries for people looking for outsourcing services at least 300 people have watched my video already and the name recognition for Outsource Success is increasing.

If you haven’t seen my video it is at the bottom of this post

If you’ve not read the Attention Age Doctrine you can download it here.

I’ve created a one page Attention Age Doctrine Mindmap.

Attention Age Doctrine Competition Video - 0

By Gavin | December 10, 2007

Here’s my entry for the attention Age Doctrine Video Competition. I had a lot of fun putting it together, I think you’ll enjoy it. It’s 65 seconds long.

If you’ve not read the Attention Age Doctrine you can download it here.

I’ve created a one page Attention Age Doctrine Mindmap.

If you’re interested in trying Traffic Geyser, I’m not sure how long the $1 trial will still be on for, I’ve got about 5 of the top 10 positions for ‘attention age doctrine video’ and the Sports Nutrition Video is still number 1. The geyser is working!

It’s looking pretty cool.

I’m also looking at a similar product that uses other social media sites to dominate google. I’ll let you know how that works out too.

Attention Age Doctrine Competiton Tips - 0

By Gavin | December 6, 2007

Wow the heat is on

If you’re thinking about taking part in Rich Schefren’s Attention Age Doctrine competition to become an Internet Video Maven, then it is certainly getting hot.

It’s certainly going to be worth it.

I’ve got a couple of tools that can certainly help you the first is called Traffic Geyser, there’s a 2 week $1 trial and it is certainly worth every cent of that.

Watch the video below you will see that I have already got the top 3 positions in Google for the term ‘Sports Nutrition Video’

HOW cool is that,

Not sure how sticky it will be but it is there and has been there for 9 hours now.

Have a quick scan of the video below, subscribe over on the right and I’ll be adding updates over the next 48 hours as we approach the deadline for the contest. If anyone has any tips on how to produce great online videos from Camtasia I’d appreciate it as my efforts so far are not going to cut it.

The quality of the vid is not great but the video is, I’ll get this sorted out in the next 48 hours, otherwise I’ll get ZERO votes.

The bonus: if you register for Traffic Geyser through my link I’ll give you 5 Hours of Virtual Assistant time for Free. I’m going to limit this to the first 20 people. Just send me the details of your order and we’ll get that squared away for you before the end of the year.

Back to the Video Making. I’ve got some good ideas for the competition.

Camtasia Screen Capture software is free - 1

By Gavin | November 22, 2007

I’ve been using Camtasia to record screen capture videos of tasks that I want my Virtual Assistant’s to do, in fact I’ve written a post about it.  If you’ve already got a business set up you’ll need to use Camtasia if you want to live the four hour work week a la Tim Ferriss
I have to give a tip of the hat to Robert Phillips on his blog Cybercashology for alerting me to this offer. Thanks Robert http://www.cybercashology.com/?p=218
Camtasia version 3 is available

Here’s what to do:

1) Download Camtasia Studio 3 here:

http://download.techsmith.com/camtasiastudio/enu/312/camtasiaf.exe

2) Register for a Software Key here:

http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia/pcpls.asp

It sounds like they’re giving it away hoping you’ll buy the $149 upgrade to Camtasia Studio 5.  I recently upgraded to Camtasia Studio 5 and I like it but until recently I was still using Camtasia Studio 2 so CS3 will do all you need.

Have fun using Camtasia as you put systems to work in your business.

Have you identified your Target MI yet? - 0

Your Target Monthly Income is vital in achieving the 4HWW lifestyle. You need to know what score your shooting for; to achieve the 4HWW.

If your serious about making this happen the figure should be imprinted on your mind.

I’ve just redone mine in order to write this post. I surprised myself as to how close I actually am to claiming that I can live the 4HWW.

Not that I want to, I’d prefer to work 10-15 hours each week but it’s nice to have the option of doing 4 if you want or need to.

I’ve spoken to many people who are interested in outsourcing Virtual Assistants from India and the whole Tim Ferriss thing and I’ve come up with 4 main categories that people fall in.

Your business is already earning your TMI, you need to get yourself out of the picture and have virtual staff run the show.

Your currently short of earning your TMI : you need to increase income whilst simultaneously reducing the hours you spend on your business.

Job with no possibilities of working remotely: oh pooh.  Joking aside, you could be in the best position of all as you have the ability to build a business from the ground up.

Job with possibilities for remote working: reducing input and maximising effectiveness.  There’s a chance you could negotiate remote working.

Like most self help books, seminars, DVD and personal development programs only a fraction of the people less than 5 % usually ever do anything with the information and I reckon the 4HWW is no different.

Sure most people will make a few slight changes but very few will go all the way to nailing the philosophy of living the four hour work week.

I think a major factor is not having someone to hold them accountable to make the changes that need to be made after all change is uncomfortable.

I’d be interested to know what you think holds people back.

How to create systems for your common tasks - 1

By Gavin | November 1, 2007

One of the best ways to free yourself up is to document a process that you repeat often and create a step by step plan so
that a Virtual Assistant can follow it for you.

See how you can use this to create more time for yourself.

send me an e-mail gavin @ outsourcesuccess.com if you’d like a copy of the template I’ve used in the video
